PURPOSE

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is actively disclosing data and information held by the government, and is promoting efforts to improve the convenience of the citizens of Tokyo. Civic tech and private companies are promoting efforts to improve the convenience of the citizens of Tokyo by creating new services.

In order to accelerate this initiative, we will implement the “Governor’s Cup Open Data Hackathon (*)”, which proposes digital services for solving administrative issues by utilizing the data and information of the city disclosed.

Our intention is to establish a public-private collaboration style that creates new services which improve the QOL (quality of life) of Tokyo citizens by incorporating the effect of Civic Tech to solve diversifying administrative issues.

* Governor of Tokyo Cup Open Data Hackathon: A development event to compete for results which engineers and planners meet with their own technologies and ideas and concentrate on developing applications in short period of time.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Tokyo Metropolitan Government supports to create prototypes that utilize ideas.
The contents of the prototype will be presented at the First Stage, and top ten excellent projects will be selected to advance to the Final Stage.
The best project among these ten will be honored as Governor of Tokyo Cup in the Final Stage.

For the ten projects that have advanced to the Final Stage, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will support the implementation such as designing, giving advice on easy-to-use feature /functions advices, and building programming until the end of the fiscal year.

The contents of the prototype will be presented at the First Stage, and top ten excellent projects will be selected to advance to the Final Stage.

NOTICE

  • All programs will be presented at Japan Standard Time (JST).
  • While participation fees are free, all other expenses associated with joining the program, such as travel and the Internet, must be paid by you.
  • All programs will be presented in Japanese, therefore more than one person who speaks Japanese needs to be in the team.
  • In addition, please check into the application guidelines carefully.

Mr. Manabu Miyasaka, Vice Governor of Tokyo and other speakers made panel discussion how important not only to create prototypes that utilize ideas but also business service implementation.

Firstly, we held workshops to understand more about solving administrative issues and how to brush up on service ideas. Also, participants separated into groups for each field and team-building was held by having discussions among the participants.

Consideration of service ideas

Date: December 17, 2021

By getting advices by the mentors, participants had discussions how to understand solving issues of ideas throughout the workshops. To start developing applications from next day, each team discussed their service ideas in detail, utilizing the data and information of the city disclosed to create the contents of the prototype.

Shinichi Fujikawa, SVP of Development from BASE, Inc. gave a lecture about the necessity of awareness when implementation and expanding of the service. Mentors instructed about tools of no-code or other technical issues (including chat services) to brush up on service ideas for the beginners. In order to reinforce the presentation, we held a presentation practice and devised ways to make more effective presentations.

First Stage

41 teams presented at the First Stage, and top five excellent projects have been selected to advance to the Final Stage.

Selected top five projects were presented at the Final Stage. The best project among these five, named “PECO navi TOKYO” by team ToDCS was selected as the best and the award “Governor of Tokyo Cup” was given.
